Mariner's Mile Bridge

We were very honored to have been chosen to document the installation of the new pedestrian bridge over Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach. This project had been pushed back a few times due to weather concerns. Gusty winds and a crane picking up a large, heavy object are generally not a good mix. I grew up sailing this harbor and know this piece of coastline like the back of my hand. There is a little park up on the cliff that had a great overview of the job site and I decided to run a test prior to the actual job to check the angle and trial some new anti-flicker software. The test footage looked great and when finally the night arrived for the pick, we set up the camera for timelapse, coned off the area, and left my wife (also a pro photographer) to baby sit that camera while the rest of my crew went down with me to PCH to coordinate lighting the crane and shooting the stills. I’d like to thank TELACU construction management for working with us on a fun and successful shoot!

Below is the test footage shot on a 5DmkIII and post processed with LR Timelapse 5. We ran the camera with a tablet connected via wifi and manually ramped the exposure.
